GLOVE
Labels:

Just a short little photo shoot with a glove I made on a whim. I’m beginning to experiment with my fabrics in forms other than masks. There are many things I want to pursue right now, but with Verge coming up, I don’t have much time to work on anything other than preparation. I’ll have more time to work once the show is over.

MESS

Another wet shoot, using a variety of different masks and liquids.
So right now, I am just finishing up some projects, and preparing for my show. I’m getting everything organized, finalizing all my images, and deciding what and what not to exhibit. It’s all slowly coming together. Needless to say, I’m very excited.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you to my model, Bradford Rusick, for enduring these experiments.

just an update...
I am still refining and editing the first issue. I came to the conclusion that I will most likely not create a second issue because of time restraints. I want to make sure that this issue is perfect. I would rather have one well done issue, then hurry to complete a second issue. However, I want to add some things to this current issue. As of right now I have exactly 50 pages. John said I need to have multiples of eight so I think I need to add a few pages. I was thinking of adding some more sketches because I really enjoy those pages. I might put in some sketches from my notebook, and a contact sheet of photographs. I want to incorporate other things into my show, not yet sure what that will be. I am going to research some more magazines and see what other elements I can add. Perhaps I will just make this issue longer? I re-worked some layouts. Will post either tonight or tomorrow. Any ideas on what I could incorporate into the magazine or my show?

Animal Shelter Visits

Today I went to the Lowell Humane Society and also the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts. I had been in contact with people from the shelters and offered to give our some materials for them as a promotion for their shelters. The first is a 1 year old pit bull named Chance who was a sweetheart, the second video is just to let you hear how loud it is in the dog part of the shelter, third is an 8 month of kitten, and the last video will break your heart into a million pieces - She is a 2 month of kitten named Ellie Bow, she has a birth defect and her front paws are bent inward so she walks on her "elbows". She still runs and plays like an average kitten except she needs to be on carpets or blankets so she doesn't hurt her elbows. She has taught herself to sit up and balance like a rabbit would when she's sitting still. She was very sweet but broke my heart.

A lot of work since thursday.
I started by documenting all the beauty and fashion items on the receipts in my wallet. It ended up being 40+ items and totaling $400.00 +, with the receipts dating back to the beginning of September.
Next I took pictures of the items and using Tessa's suggestion of Adobe Kuler and chose a color that represented the product based on the image.
examples:

etc.
After that I composed the colors within squares, creating different color pallets. I put the names of the products in a font that looks very similar to my handwriting and their price, but the handwriting wasn't really working for me so I took that off.

Working with the idea of using my handwriting, I thought it would cool to make a huge receipt in my handwriting to maybe act as the wallpaper behind my other pieces in the show.

It's going to be a lot longer after I add in the other items.
Next I was thinking about what Tessa said about creating look books, or collections, with the tunnel books. So I was thinking of fashion themes and as a re-do of the first book I came up with "In Bloom" which would be a mix of abstracted flower prints.

Aztec Themed.

Nautical Themed.
I played around with adding the patterns to each panel, and to different items. Also I made the arrows the same pattern as the outside border of each panel instead of the original black.
Lastly I played around with using the themes with my figures and showing how the patterns would be used on clothes. I also created little scenes to go along with the themes.

The end.

PERSONAL POSTCARDS

So, I've been thinking that I want to have a sort of take-away for the show. Something that people can take home with them, so that they will remember my work and possibly contact me. Though I'd like to make a booklet or a poster, I decided that most cost-effective thing to do would be to print postcards. I made a number of possible versions, but these are the ones that I am battling between. I would appreciate feedback.
