Gilded Sentry Origin Story
George Christophers was born in 1875 to Ernest and Sarah Christophers. George grew into a simple, yet learned archaeologist. One fateful day in 1918 while on a solo excavation of an ancient Egyptian shrine to the sun god, Ra, George uncovered the fabled Shield of Power. Upon contact with the artifact, George was enveloped in an immense light and bonding his body with the shield, effectively changing his life forever. The joining of George with the shield granted him with god-like speed, strength, flight, immortality, and the ability to expel immensely powerful energy blasts from his being. Christophers used his powers to protect and serve mankind for nearly 100 years as the Gilded Sentry.
Immortality did not come without a price for The Gilded Sentry. His identity as George Christophers was all but lost to time with the eventual passing of his friends and loved ones that tethered him to his normal life. It wasn't until long after the passing of his family that The Gilded Sentry discovered an old journal that belonged to his father that described an account of a supposed alien abduction that he and his wife endured about nine months prior to George's birth. Taking this discovery as a possible lead as to why the Shield chose him, the Gilded Sentry hung up his cape and left Earth to travel the cosmos in search of the extraterrestrial source of the shield that changed his life forever.
The Shield of Power
The Shield of Power, as it has came to be called, has been an object of legend recorded as far back as the earliest recovered written accounts of man. Each major civilization since the dawn of man has had its own legend detailing the supposed origin of the Shield. The last known possessors of the shield were the Ancient Egyptians who believed it to have been bestowed upon them by the sun god, Ra. Despite the different cultural myths surrounding the origin of the shield, the one constant element throughout maintains that the Shield would one day grant the chosen one great power.
